CEBU CITY – A motorcycle rider is in hot water for allegedly performing reckless stunts on public roads.
The Land Transportation Office-Central Visayas (LTO-7) has issued a show-cause order (SCO) against Kyle Econas, the registered owner of the motorcycle that was used to perform stunts, including imitating Superman while sitting improperly on the motorcycle.
Photos of the stunts have circulated on social media.
According to the LTO-7, these acts endangered the lives and property of motorists and pedestrians.
The stunts demonstrated an attitude that disregards the recommended behavior expected of drivers, the LTO-7 added.
The incident even resulted in a collision with another motorcycle at Transcentral Highway in Cebu, the agency said.
The driver is facing charges under Section 48 (reckless driving) of Republic Act 4136 and Section 27 of RA 4136, otherwise known as the Land Transportation and Traffic Code.
The driver's license has been suspended for 90 days and placed under alarm status.
The LTO-7, through the directives of its officer-in-charge Regional Director Francisco “Franz” Ranches Jr., strongly recommended the revocation of the driver's license in connection with the incident.
The driver was directed to appear and submit a written explanation and comment before the LTO-7 Operations Division, N. Bacalso Ave., Cebu City on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
The driver will be asked to explain why the driver's license should not be suspended or revoked in connection with the incident.
Failure to appear and file the required explanation at the stated time and place shall be construed as a waiver to be heard, the LTO-7 said.
