Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro (Betheena Unite)
No attention is being given to proposals regarding Charter Change at present, Malacañang said.
According to Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro, there is no any discussion about charter change within Malacañang.
"Sa ngayon po, hindi po iyan napag-uusapan sa anumang pagpupulong. Hindi po nabibigyan ng pansin kung anuman po ang suhestiyon patungkol sa charter change sa ngayon (As of now, that is not being discussed in any meeting. No attention is being given to any suggestion regarding charter change at this time)," Castro said in a Palace briefing on Monday, Feb. 16.
The Palace official said President Marcos would only consider it once the contents are presented to him.
"So, kung mailalatag po nila malamang kung ano po ang nilalaman nito, saka pa lamang po ito bibigyan ng pagkonsidera ng Pangulo. Pero sa ngayon, wala po talagang napag-uusapan tungkol diyan (So, if they are able to lay out and clarify what its contents are, that is the only time the President will consider it. But for now, there have really been no discussions about it)," she further said.
Castro also refused to comment on whether the President would support the proposal in case there is a plebiscite.
"Depende po sa nilalaman ng charter change. Sa ngayon po, muli, wala pong napag-uusapan tungkol diyan (It will depend on the contents of the charter change. For now, again, there have been no discussions about it)," Castro said.
Aside from the Anti-Political Dynasty bill, lawmakers are also pushing for charter change.
