Bollards to secure facade of Matteo Guidicelli's restaurant in Alabang
Bollards will be installed on the sidewalk fronting actor Matteo Guidicelli’s restaurant in Alabang, Muntinlupa, as a safety measure following a car crash last week that injured three people.
Bollards are posts that serve as physical barriers for the safety of pedestrians and properties from vehicles, and for traffic management.
"We've already talked to Filinvest, the property owners here--the people that's running the place and they have assured us that they will expedite their putting of bollards here to really make the guests feel safe,” said Guidicelli in a video.
At about 3:50 p.m. on Feb. 8, a vehicle driven by 72-year-old C. Alcantara, a resident of Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig, crashed into the al fresco dining area of Guidicelli’s Da Gianni Cucina Italiana restaurant at Westgate Hub in Alabang.
Alcantara and two restaurant employees who were sleeping during a break were injured in the accident and were taken to the Medical Center Muntinlupa for treatment.
The injured employees were identified as Paul John Rabulan, 25, a resident of Barangay Olaes, in General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite, and Rodel San Antonio, 25, a resident of Molino III, Bacoor, Cavite.
Guidicelli said the two employees, who are chefs, were discharged from the hospital.
In the video, Guidicelli showed that the al fresco dining area was repaired and has reopened to customers. A truck was placed in front of the restaurant as a temporary safety measure for guests.
“Good as new. We cleaned up everything. By the way, if you guys are asking questions on what safety precautions we are putting in place, we placed our truck over here to my left. So this is a trailer truck to put in in the meantime so we can have our guests feel safer kumbaga [so to speak] that this won't happen again,” he said.
