A date-night detour on Scout Rallos
ABV & Co. leans into cocktails, comfort food, and a Valentine's tasting menu away from the usual bar circuit
INSIDE ABV The interiors of ABV & Co. along Scout Rallos in Quezon City, a speakeasy-style bar designed for dates and intimate gatherings
Along Scout Rallos in Quezon City, away from the more predictable bar clusters, ABV & Co. feels like a discovery. Hidden on the mezzanine level of the Alphabase Building, the bar leans into a speakeasy mood. The room is dim but warm, compact without feeling cramped, and designed for conversation. It is a place that works best for dates or intimate get-togethers.
ABV officially opened in November last year and positions itself as a bar for socializing. With seating for roughly 40 guests, the atmosphere stays controlled, allowing for easy conversation even as the night stretches on. There is also a more private section for smaller groups seeking a quieter corner.
Cocktails anchor the experience, but the kitchen plays an equal role. For February, ABV & Co. introduces a six-course Valentine’s tasting menu that reflects the bar’s comfort-driven approach to food.
Executive chef Erick Toyama described the menu as a narrative rather than a showcase. The courses borrow from both Asian and Western flavors, and are designed to be enjoyed at an easy pace.
The tasting menu opens with bread and butter: a soft roll paired with butter infused with honey and aonori. It is followed by prawn bisque, warm and familiar, setting a steady foundation. The appetizer course brings together three ABV staples on one plate: spicy miso wings, a wagyu sando, and OG salpicao. Each bite is direct and satisfying, leaning into comfort.
Midway through the menu comes “Enchanted,” a palate cleanser of lemon, chamomile, and blue ternate tea. Light and aromatic, it resets the palate before the heartier dishes arrive.
The main courses include crab and shrimp dan-dan noodles and char siu fried rice, both generous and grounding. The menu closes with a playful dessert, matcha tiramisu pani-puri, which adds a note of lightness at the end of the meal. Each tasting menu includes a choice of one signature cocktail or a glass of wine, keeping the focus squarely on the bar’s strengths.
ABV & Co. does not aim to compete with louder nightlife destinations. The room is cozy, the lighting forgiving, and the food and drinks are designed to support conversation. For those looking for a quieter Valentine’s plan, or simply a calm place to spend an evening in Quezon City, it is an easy recommendation.
ABV & Co.’s six-course Valentine’s tasting menu is priced at P1,999 per person and is available throughout February.
