CEBU CITY – A 23-year-old businessman was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Barangay Banilad here shortly after midnight Sunday, Feb. 8.
Police identified the victim as Kingston Ralph Cheng, an owner of a luxury coffee shop in an uptown mall here.
Police said the victim suffered severe injuries when he slammed into a concrete electric post after he was hit by a Toyota Innova with license plates GAP-3492.
The Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police Office said the Innova was driven by Sean Andrew Pajarillo, 21.
Police said Pajarillo hit a Toyota vehicle parked by the road. Instead of stopping, Pajarillo accelerated and rammed Cheng.
Pajarillo allegedly continued to drive until he lost control of the vehicle and turned on its side.
The two men were taken to separate hospitals where Cheng was declared dead.
Police said Pajarillo was placed under hospital arrest. Charges are being readied against him.
