President Marcos has appointed Assistant Secretary Majken Anika Gran-Ong as new undersecretary of the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The promotion of Undersecretary Gran-Ong was confirmed by DOJ Spokesperson Raphael Niccolo Martinez on Friday, Feb. 6.
Gran-Ong, who was appointed last Jan. 28, is now in charge of the Finance, Administration, and Personnel Cluster of the DOJ, Martinez said.
He added that the new undersecretary was also designated as Overall Deputy of the Immigration and Special Concerns Cluster, Special Deputy of the Legal Services and Legislative Liaison Cluster, and Executive Director of the Prosecution Integrity Board.
Gran-Ong has been with the DOJ since July 2018 and served as head executive assistant to the Office of the SOJ. She was appointed assistant secretary in 2021.
Before joining the DOJ, she was technical assistant at the Office of the President from 2016 to 2018.
She has a degree in political science from the University of the Philippines (UP) and graduated from law school at the Ateneo de Manila University.
Aside from Gran-Ong the other DOJ undersecretaries are Jose R. Cadiz Jr., Margarita N. Gutierrez, Deo L. Marco, Nicholas Felix L. Ty, and Raul T. Vasquez.
