Suspected illegal drugs worth P2 million were seized by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) during a buy-bust operation in Iligan City.
NBI Acting Director Angelito DLP. Magno said a suspected illegal drugs trader was arrested during the operation conducted jointly last Jan. 29 by operatives of the Iligan District Office (NBI-ILDO) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
The arrested suspect, whose name was not disclosed, will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, Magno said.
“This successful operation is the direct result of our seamless coordination with PDEA and other government partners, proving that our unified front is the most effective weapon against those who threaten our communities with illegal substances,” Magno said.
He said the buy-bust operation was conducted after months of intelligence gathering and verification of reports from confidential informants.
During the operation, the NBI seized three knot-tied transparent plastic sachets containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” with an estimated value of P2 million.
