A married man has been arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Antipolo City for allegedly blackmailing his former girlfriend to have sex with him in exchange for not releasing her nude photos and videos.
After his arrest last Jan. 20, NBI Acting Director Angelito DLP. Magno said the man was charged before the Antipolo City Prosecutor’s Office with violations of Republic Act (RA) No. 9262, the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004; Section 4(a) of RA No. 9995, the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009; grave coercion under Articles 286 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC); and grave threats under Article 282 of the RPC -- all in relation of RA No. 10175, the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
The NBI did not disclose the names of the married man and his former girlfriend.
It said it acted on the complaint filed by the girl friend who confessed that she ended her relationship with the man after discovering that he is already married and has committed acts of infidelity.
She told the NBI that in December 2025, she was alerted by friends and colleagues that her intimate photos and videos were being circulated online via multiple ‘fake’ social media accounts.
She also told the NBI that when she confronted him, he at first denied but subsequently admitted to have distributed the sexually explicit photos and videos.
At the same time, she told the NBI that he threatened to send the photos and the videos to her parents.
“He used these images as leverage in forcing me to have sexual intercourse with him in exchange for not releasing the said contents,” she said. Thus, she added, she decided to seek the assistance of the NBI.
In a statement, Magno said: “The NBI takes violence and abuse against women seriously and will employ its full resources and expertise to ensure that individuals who perpetrate violence, discrimination, or any form of abuse against women will face justice.”
