There is no upcoming Cabinet "rigodon" amid concerns that some department officials continue to serve in an acting capacity, Malacañang said.
President Marcos said there will be no Cabinet reorganization as the names of the secretaries he appointed will be submitted to the Commission on Appointments.
"Natanong po natin ang Pangulo kanina. Wala na pong rigodon, at ang mga pangalan po ay isusumite sa Commission on Appointments the soonest possible (We asked the President earlier. There will no longer be any reshuffle, and the names will be submitted to the Commission on Appointments as soon as possible)," Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said on Friday, Jan. 30.
"Ang sabi lang po sa atin, ang mga pangalan ng magiging secretary ay ibibigay po at isusumite sa Commission on Appointments (He simply told us that the names of those who will become secretaries will be given and submitted to the Commission on Appointments)," Castro added.
Meanwhile, the Palace official also disclosed that the President is in the process of looking into the records of Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Raphael Lotilla relating to his appointment.
Castro did not give any confirmation whether or not Lotilla is on his way out of the Marcos Cabinet, saying that his appointment record was still being reviewed.
"With regard to the rigodon, sa ngayon wala po; pero iyong patungkol po kay DENR Secretary, tinitingnan po iyan ng Pangulo (none for now; but regarding DENR Secretary, the President is looking into it)," Castro said.
"Titingnan po muna kung ano po iyong records sa ngayon. Kapag po napakita na po sa atin at naibigay po sa atin ang update, ibibigay ko po sa inyo agad (The President will first look at what the records are at this time. Once they are shown to us and we are given an update, I will immediately relay it to you)," she added.
She explained that there has already been a third bypass of the DENR chief's appointment, thus " the President and the Presidential Management Staff (PMS) are currently reviewing the records, and we will see what the update will be regarding this matter."
Rumors on a possible Cabinet revamp have started since early this year.
It can be recalled that in May last year, Marcos ordered his Cabinet members to submit their respective courtesy resignations. It led to a major Cabinet revamp, replacing and moving secretaries of key government agencies.
In November last year, another round of Cabinet shakeup took place. It involved replacing the Executive Secretary and heads of Department of Finance (DOF) and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) after they were linked to the flood control anomalies.
