CEBU CITY – A man was gunned down exactly a week after he was released from jail here on Friday, Jan. 23.
Police said Jason Lendio Yuson was eating at the side of the road in Barangay Mambaling when he was attacked past 2 a.m.
A man wearing a hooded jacket and denim pants arrived and shot the victim at close range.
The victim slumped to the ground with two bullet wounds in the back. The gunman fled on foot, police said.
Emergency responders brought the victim to the Cebu City Medical Center where he was declared dead.
Two spent shells for a .45 caliber pistol were recovered in the crime scene.
Police Lt. Col. Jose Los Baños, information officer of the Cebu City Police Office, said the motive of the attack is still being investigated.
Investigators are looking into the possibility that the killing has something to do with illegal drug transactions.
Security camera footage will be secured as part of the efforts to identify the assailant, Los Baños said.
