SUDIPEN town in La Union province launched another solar-powered irrigation system.
CALASIAO, Pangasinan – The municipality of Sudipen in La Union province recently inaugurated a solar-powered irrigation system in Barangay Castro.
The P1.9-million project is the third such system in Sudipen.
It is expected to provide reliable supply for farmlands especially during dry spells, helping local farmers increase crop yields and reduce dependence on irregular rainfall.
Local officials said the facility built using the development fund could support the cultivation of rice, vegetables, and other crops in the barangay, contributing to food security and stable livelihoods.
Farmers in La Union are switching to solar-powered water pumps to cut fuel costs and keep crops green even in dry spells.
Mayor Wendy Joy Dengayan graced the ceremony. Dengayan is optimistic that the irrigation system will address a long-standing challenge for farmers.
Residents were urged to maintain the facility to ensure long-term functionality.
