CEBU CITY – A liquor ban will be imposed a day before and during the Sinulog Grand Parade here.
Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival issued Executive Order (EO) No. 051 imposing a liquor ban within the 300-meter radius of the Sinulog Grand Parade routes.
Under the EO, a liquor ban will be imposed from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Jan. 17. On Jan. 18, the day of the Sinulog, the liquor ban will start from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Police Col. George Ylanan, chief of the Cebu City Police Office, said bars, hotels, and other establishments selling liquor will be informed about the ban.
Ylanan warned that the ban will be strictly enforced. “Liquor will be strictly prohibited within the 300-meter radius from all official Sinulog grand parade routes, including assembly points, parade routes, and dispersal areas especially designated by the Cebu City government and the Sinulog organizers,” said Ylanan.
Ylanan said four buses will be deployed to serve as temporary holding areas for violators.
Establishments violating the ban will be reported to the city’s Business Permit and Licensing Office for corresponding action, said Ylanan.
Thousands of police will be deployed during the parade.
Security forces will be divided into 11 sectors and will be led by ground commanders, Ylanan said.
