POLICE deployed to secure the Sinulog Festival in Cebu City. (PRO-NIR)
BACOLOD CITY – The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) deployed 150 policemen to Cebu City on Wednesday, Jan. 14, to augment security for the Sinulog Festival.
They are composed of 100 personnel from the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office and 50 from the Siquijor Police Provincial Office and will be on duty from Jan. 15 to 18.
A send-off ceremony was held at the Maringal Hall of the Camp Lt. Col. Francisco C. Fernandez Jr. in Barangay Agan-an, Sibulan, Negros Oriental, witnessed by National Police Commission-NIR Director Owen de Luna.
Police Col. Lito Patay, deputy regional director for operations of the PRO-NIR, and officer-in-charge of the Negros Oriental police, reminded personnel to remain vigilant, proactive, and responsive in addressing security concerns, crowd management, and emergency situations throughout the festivity.
The PRO-NIR assured the people that while personnel are deployed to support Sinulog Festival operations, security coverage across NIR remains robust and uninterrupted.
