When my forever travel partner, Bryan Talatala, and I visited Paris years ago, we did not have the chance to watch the musical Moulin Rouge. (kinulang ata sa budget!) We just had a photo at the theatre's facade. (attendance check lang!)

Years later, the cast and production team staged the play in Toronto, Canada. Good thing Bryan was there to watch (may budget na!) He was full of praise for the performances. (feeling may kultura!)

Fast forward to this month. While we are celebrating the holidays here in San Francisco, California, Bryan learned about the team's tour. He immediately bought front-seat tickets. (mukhang di pa nakaka move on!)

It was a full house in the Orpheum Theatre when we watched. The play's famous song Lady Marmalade was the first feature. (bet sana namin maki perform!) Many classic songs are identified with the musical (i super love yung 'Your Song' ni Elton John!) just like in the 2001 movie directed by Baz Luhrmann with Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor as lead stars. (nominated for Oscars yan ha!) But for the current edition, they included new songs from Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, and many others. (relate na relate kami ha!)

Latino actors Gabriela Carillo (as Satine) and Ryan Vasquez (as Christian) led the ensemble (na mga ayaw paawat ang vocal cords!) The team also took time to make costumes and set design visually appealing (di puchu puchu!)

Moulin Rouge will be in San Francisco the whole holiday season. (para sa truth, beauty, freedom at love!)
