CEBU CITY – Security forces are all set for the upcoming 641st Fiesta Señor and Sinulog Grand Parade.
More than 6,500 personnel for various law enforcement agencies – the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology – attended the send-off ceremony at the Cebu City Sports Center here on Monday, Jan. 5.
Leading the send-off ceremony was Police Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas and Task Force Sinulog commander.
Mayor Nestor Archival also attended the ceremony.
Forty-five patrol cars newly issued by Camp Crame, 38 motorcycles, 1,500 raincoats, 30 megaphones, 25 metal detectors, and 17 drones were presented. These assets will be used to secure the festivity.
"The sending of forces and resources is a traditional way showing to the public that the government, especially the uniformed personnel, are ready to perform its mandate," said Maranan.
Archival thanked uniformed personnel and civilian force multipliers for their roles in helping ensure the peaceful conduct of the festivity.
“On behalf of the Cebu City government and the people of Cebu, we thank you and honor you. Your dedication makes it possible for millions to worship, celebrate and come home safely,” said Archival.
The mayor announced that no signal shutdown will be enforced during the Jan. 18 event.
“No signal jam. The one who gives direction about signal jamming is the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) and according to them, there is no threat so there will be signal jam,” said Archival.
