Attacks vs Duterte family to hide gov't's failures—VP Sara
Vice President Sara Duterte once more insisted that the recent political attacks against her family were the attempts of the Marcos administration to cover up its shortcomings and failures.
Speaking to reporters in Zamboanga Sibugay on Monday, May 5, the Vice President pointed out that the “timing” and “pattern” of the political attacks is not lost on Filipinos.
“Nakikita nila kung iyong panggigipit at pang-aapi na ginagawa nila sa kanilang mga kalaban sa pulitika para tabunan o cover-an iyong mga kakulangan ng gobyerno at ng administrasyon sa totoong serbisyo na kailangan ng bayan at kawalan ng mga development projects--big-ticket projects at programa para sa ating bayan (They can see the harassment and oppression against their political enemies to cover up the shortcomings of the government and administration in true public service that the country needs and the lack of development projects-- big-ticket projects and programs for our country),” the official said.
Her remarks came after her brother, Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte, was charged with physical injuries and grave threats after allegedly beating and threatening a businessman back in February.
The Vice President claimed that the incident is being used to cover up the Marcos administration’s failure to fulfill its P20-per-kilo of rice campaign promise.
The National Food Authority (NFA) suspended only after a day of implementation the sale of the P20-per-kilo rice in Cebu province to comply with the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) warning. The sale will resume after the election on May 12.
Duterte dismissed as well Palace Press Officer Claire Castro’s comment that she was making up and spreading stories about First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
“Lagi ko naman na sinasabi huwag na tayong makinig kay Claire Castro at sa pinsan niya na si France Castro dahil nga ang kanilang pamilya ay pamilya ng garbage in, garbage out. So, basura ang lumalabas lagi sa bibig nila (I always say not to listen to Claire Castro and her cousin, France Castro, because their family is garbage in, garbage out. So, trash comes out of their mouths),” Duterte said.
The Vice President previously claimed that the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) undersecretary is related to ACT Teachers’ Partylist Rep. France Castro, her staunch critic. This was denied by both camps.
