2 persons arrested, 14 women rescued from 'sex trafficking activities' in Rizal
Two persons were arrested and 14 females, four of them minors, were rescued from sex trafficking activities in Taytay, Rizal, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said.

Those arrested last April 3 were identified by the NBI as Roel San Esteban and Maria Antonette Maltos who were apprehended in two apartelles located along Manila East Road in Taytay.
“The operation stemmed from an intelligence report received by the agents of NBI-Rizal District Office (NBI-RIZDO) from a non-government organization aimed to rescue children from sexual exploitation,” the NBI said.
“In response, the agents of NBI-RIZDO conducted a series of online surveillance which confirmed the veracity of the report,” it added.
During the arrest of Esteban, the NBI said seven females were rescued. “A dental examination conducted by the NBI-Odontology Division revealed that three of the rescued victims are minors,” the NBI said.
It said the NBI agents also rescued seven females during the arrest of Maltos. “Another dental examination conducted by the NBI-Odontology Division revealed that one of the rescued victims is a minor,” it said.
Esteban and Maltos were charged before the Rizal Prosecutor’s Office for violations of Republic Act (RA) No. 9208, the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003), as amended, in relation to RA No. 7610, the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
