Comelec clerk Genesis Gatdula issued summons last week against the reelectionist governor and Joeben who is running for congressman against Rep. Teodorico “Ted” Haresco Jr. of the second district.
The complaints were filed on April 11 after they allegedly used vehicles of the Aklan provincial government and ordered capitol employees to participate during the March 28 kickoff of the local campaign for their slate called “Tibyog Aklan.”
Also summoned were other Tibyog candidates – first district congressional candidate Jesus “Papa Jess” Marquez, Balete Mayor and vice gubernatorial candidate Dexter Calizo, and provincial board candidates Jupiter Gallenero, Romeo “Lolong” Dalisay, Plaridel “Larry” Solidum, Bayani “Jojo” Cordova, and Ricardo “Tingtong” Ibarreta Jr.
Aside from abusing State resources, they were also accused of vote-buying.
The Comelec said if they fail to submit written responses, they will be barred from submitting controverting evidence if the disqualification case progresses in the future.
