As summer approaches, aspiring chefs—both young and old—have a wealth of opportunities to sharpen their culinary skills in Metro Manila. Among the many excellent options, two institutions stand out for their comprehensive programs and expert-led classes: the Center for Culinary Arts (CCA) and Heny Sison Culinary School.
For younger kids looking for a lighthearted introduction to the kitchen, McDonald’s Kiddie Crew Workshop Bootcamp and Jollibee’s JolliKids Summer Fun Camp provide engaging alternatives.

CCA: Building confidence
CCA Manila has long been a premier institution for culinary education, and its Young Chefs Boot Camp is an excellent introduction for children eager to develop their kitchen skills.
Chef Katrina Catapia, a CCA instructor, highlights the program’s benefits beyond just learning to cook.
“Cooking is one of the most valuable life skills we can teach our children. Beyond just preparing meals, it builds confidence and independence that serves them throughout life,” she said. “At CCA Manila’s Young Chefs Boot Camp, we see kids transform from picky eaters to food explorers as they connect with ingredients and understand where their meals come from.”
Children enrolled in the program will learn essential kitchen skills such as safety, measuring, and basic techniques, while also developing patience, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
The next boot camp dates are April 21 and May 19. Classes run from Monday to Thursday, starting at 2 p.m., catering to kids aged seven to 12.
Heny Sison Culinary School
For those looking for a more advanced culinary experience, Heny Sison Culinary School remains one of the top choices in Metro Manila. Founded by the renowned chef Heny Sison, this institution offers a range of classes that cover everything from classic French techniques to modern cake decorating.

Known for its intensive hands-on approach, the school provides students with a solid foundation in culinary arts. Whether you're a home cook looking to elevate your skills or an aspiring professional, Heny Sison’s summer workshops offer a rigorous yet rewarding experience.

The school’s pastry and baking courses are particularly popular, with students learning to create delicate pastries, decadent cakes, and intricate desserts.
For younger chefs, Heny Sison Culinary School also offers summer classes tailored for kids and teens. These hands-on sessions introduce children to basic cooking and baking skills while fostering creativity and confidence in the kitchen. Participants will learn to prepare simple yet delicious dishes, including cookies, cupcakes, and even beginner-friendly savory meals. The kid-friendly format ensures a fun and engaging learning experience.
McDonald’s Kiddie Crew Workshop
For younger children who want a more playful introduction to the world of food, McDonald’s Kiddie Crew Workshop Bootcamp offers a lighthearted yet educational experience. Open to kids aged 3 to 12, the program provides a five-day workshop where participants take on fun challenges, learn teamwork, and even get hands-on experience in a McDonald’s kitchen.
The workshops will run from April 21 to June 13, at participating McDonald’s locations.
Jollibee’s JolliKids Summer Fun Camp
Jollibee is also offering a fun-filled culinary experience through its JolliKids Summer Fun Camp. Designed for children aged four to 12, it allows kids to immerse in the world of Jollibee by learning how to take and serve orders, making their own favorite menu items, and celebrating their achievements with Jollibee himself.
The program runs from April 21 to June 14, 2025, at participating Jollibee stores nationwide.
