The 126-year-old Manila Bulletin has been named the most trusted broadsheet in the country, based on a nationwide survey conducted by research firm Tangere.
The non-commissioned survey, conducted from April 14 to 16, revealed that traditional media formats, including television, radio, and newspapers, are still trusted more than digital and social media.
Between 70 and 80 percent of respondents said they trust traditional platforms, while social media received a trust rating of 52 percent.
Among national newspapers, the Manila Bulletin topped the list with a trust rating of 39 percent.
It was followed by Philippine Star (15 percent), Philippine Daily Inquirer (14 percent), Manila Times (5 percent), and Business World (3 percent).
Among tabloids, Abante was ranked the most trusted by 19 percent of respondents. Pilipino Star Ngayon and Balita followed with 15 percent each.
Balita is the Filipino language tabloid of the Manila Bulletin.
Meanwhile, GMA was the most trusted television news network with 32 percent, narrowly ahead of ABS-CBN at 31 percent.
In the AM radio category, Bombo Radyo Philippines led with 37 percent, followed by DZBB, DZMM, and DZRH.
In the category of online news, ABS-CBN was the most trusted platform with 32 percent, followed by GMA News Online with 27 percent.
The online editions of the Manila Bulletin and Inquirer.net each received 7 percent.
A total of 1,600 Filipinos participated in the survey through a mobile platform.
Respondents were selected using stratified random sampling, with representation from the National Capital Region, Northern Luzon, Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
The survey has a ±2.4 percent margin of error and a 95 percent confidence level.
