A man has been arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for mortgaging real estate properties that are owned by a corporation in Quezon province.
The NBI identified the suspect as Victorino Diezmo Borlongan Jr. who was arrested last March 27 during an entrapment operation conducted by operatives of NBI’s Lucena District Office (NBI-LUCDO).
“Subject Borlongan was arrested inside Complainant’s residence in Pagbilao, Quezon after Subject accepted the marked money,” it said.
It also said that Borlongan and his live-in partner, who was not identified and was not present during the entrapment operation, face estafa in violation of Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC).
“Both individuals are alleged to have concealed material facts about the land's ownership to facilitate the fraudulent transaction,” it added.
The NBI said that Borlongan and his live-in partner "misrepresented three parcels of land as unencumbered despite them being previously encumbered and sold to Prime Global Finance Corporation in December 2022 and June 2024.”
“Subjects mortgaged the properties for P10,000,000, and when they demanded an additional P30,000 from Complainant, an entrapment operation was hatched,” it also said.
