The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested a man for "sextortion" when he threatened a woman that he will upload online her lewd photographs and videos.

The NBI identified the suspect as Jebson G. Palmes who was arrested at his residence in Antique last March 27 by operatives of the NBI Antique District Office (NBI-ANDO) based on the complaint of his alleged female victim.
“He was apprehended for violations of Republic Act No. 9995, the Anti- Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, as well as Article 286 (Grave Coercion) of the Revised Penal Code (RPC), as amended,” the NBI said.
Palmes was immediately presented for inquest before the Antique Provincial Prosecutor’s Office on the day of his arrest.
The NBI said the arrest was made after the complainant sent a message to him last March 24 “requesting the deletion of a video and pleading for an end to the sexual abuse and threats that began in 2022 and continued until she became pregnant.”
“In response, ‘Jake’ instructed the Complainant to come to his house in Dalipe, San Jose, Antique, if she wanted to delete the video,” it said.
“The Complainant then informed the NBI-ANDO agents about the Subject's instruction,” it added.
The NBI said the victim was first contacted by Palmes on December 2022 when she received a call on her personal phone number to inform her that he has "a video of her naked."
After the call, the victim said she received a friend request on Facebook and a message on the platform’s Messenger that included an attached video of her sleeping without clothes.
Because of this, the NBI said “the Complainant immediately called ‘Jake’ and demanded that he delete the video.”
However, the NBI said that, according to the victim, Palmes told her he would only delete the video if she agreed to have sexual intercourse with him and, if she refuses, he threatened to upload the video on Facebook.
“Thus, the Complainant was compelled to have sex with the Subject,” the bureau said.
