'Counterfeit' products worth P51-M seized by NBI in Metro Manila
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) seized some P51 million worth of alleged counterfeit Huawei mobile phones and accessories, and health care products during operations in Metro Manila.

In a statement on Tuesday, April 1, NBI Director Jaime B. Santiago said the suspected counterfeit products were seized during operations conducted last week by operatives of the NBI National Capital Region (NBI-NCR).
Santiago reminded the public “to refrain from patronizing counterfeit products.”
Among those seized were around P36 million worth of counterfeit products bearing the name of Huawei, a popular brand of Chinese mobile phone.
The NBI said its NCR agents implemented nine search warrants against premises in Manila and Pasay City for trademark infringement in violation of Republic Act (RA) 8293, the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
“The case stemmed from the complaint filed by Lee Bumgarner, Inc. (LBI) on behalf of their client Huawei,” it said.
It also said that the NBI-NCR also enforced three search warrants in San Nicolas, Manila also for alleged violations of RA 8293.
During the operation in San Nicolas, the bureau said “NBI Agents were able to seize Eight Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty-nine (18,889) various counterfeit products (lotion, sunblock, facial cream, cologne, facial cleanser, liquid soap, etc.) of ‘Nivea,’ ‘Johnson’s Baby,’ ‘Aveeno,’ ‘Aveeno Baby,’ ‘Cetaphil,’ and various business documents, receipts, Lazada parcel tags, and other pieces of evidence with an estimated worth of Fifteen Million Pesos (P15,000,000).”
It said the operation was conducted after “Orion Support Incorporated (OSI) filed a complaint against Sugarluckyhall Shop, Coolfancy Shop, Fashionshe Shop, Bea She, and/or Jian Din Li,, owners/operators/occupants of the location in San Nicolas, Manila, for storing, selling, and distributing counterfeit products bearing the Kenvue, Galderma, and Beiersdorf Holdings S.A. trademarks.”
“Appropriate criminal charges will be filed once all requisite documents have been completed and validated,” it added.
Owners of the raided shops could not be contacted for comment as of posting time.
