No classes in Cavite City on March 6 due to high heat index

CAVITE – Mayor Denver Chua announced the suspension of classes in Cavite City on Thursday, March 6, due to extreme heat.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, March 5, Chua said that classes at all levels in both public and private schools will be canceled as temperatures continue to rise.

“According sa PAGASA, heat index ay aabot ng 40 degrees Celsius sa Cavite City bukas. Mas mainit kesa sa natala ngayong araw (According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, the heat index in Cavite City is expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius tomorrow, which is hotter than today's recorded temperature),” the mayor said.

Chua’s announcement follows Cavite Gov. Athena Tolentino’s province-wide suspension of classes on March 5, also due to the high heat index.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), in its heat index forecast released at 5 p.m. on March 4, predicted that Sangley Point, Cavite would reach temperatures of 39 degrees Celsius on March 5 and 40 degrees Celsius on March 6.
