Philippine Airlines marks 84th anniversary with Filipino-inspired desserts

Philippine Airlines (PAL) is celebrating its 84th anniversary by offering a specially curated selection of desserts that pay homage to Filipino heritage. Available until May 31 on select international routes, the airline’s latest culinary offerings highlight flavors that evoke nostalgia and showcase the country’s rich culinary tradition.

A trio of Filipino-inspired treats

PAL’s anniversary dessert lineup includes the Trio Bite-Sized Dessert Plate, featuring three distinct confections: Classic Leche Flan with Cantaloupe Syrup, Southern Chocolate Ganache Cake Slice, and Pacencia with Mango Butter Cream Filling.

A staple in Filipino celebrations, leche flan is a custard dessert similar to crème caramel, made with egg yolks, milk, and sugar. PAL’s version is made even creamier, topped with slow-simmered cantaloupe syrup, white chocolate, and crushed mango.

The Southern Chocolate Ganache Cake Slice is crafted using premium cacao beans sourced from Davao, known for its high-quality chocolate. Meanwhile, the Pacencia with Mango Butter Cream Filling reinvents the classic Filipino meringue cookie by pairing it with the country’s world-renowned sweet mangoes.

Availability for business class passengers

The Trio Bite-Sized Dessert Plate will be served exclusively in business class on flights to North American destinations, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and New York. Passengers can also opt for a traditional halo-halo, a Filipino dessert featuring a mix of sweetened fruits, various toppings, and milk, or pair their meal with a cheese platter or ice cream.

Those flying business class to Honolulu and Australia will be treated to the Southern Chocolate Ganache Cake Slice, along with the option of a cheese platter or ice cream.
