A total of 152 uniformed personnel of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) have been promoted to further boost their good service and as inspiration to other employees.
BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. said that those promoted included nine chief inspectors and 143 senior corrections officers 3.
“‘Pag pumasok kayo sa sinapupunan ng BuCor kayo ay aalagaan at hindi papapabayaan (Once you enter BuCor we will take care of you and not neglect you),” Catapang told the newly promoted personnel during their oath taking.
He also said: "Etong promotion n’yo ay isang aspeto pa lang sa pangangalaga din ng BuCor (this promotion is just part of the aspect of BuCor taking care of its personnel).”
The ongoing promotions at the BuCor are part of the reforms being implemented at the bureau which, Catapang lamented, had been neglected for decades.
“Simula pa lang ito ng mga biyaya na dapat n’yo na natanggap noong araw pa at gagawin natin ang lahat para tuloy-tuloy ninyo makamtan ito (This is just a start of the blessing that you were supposed to get long ago and we will do everything we can for you to get this),” he assured.
He told all BuCor personnel: "Para tayong mga PDLs nagbabagong buhay dito sa BuCor (we are all like persons deprived of liberty trying to get a new lease on life here at BuCor).”
He said the promotions of personnel will continue as he cited Republic Act (RA) 10575, the BuCor Act of 2013, which gives him the power to promote personnel up to the rank of general.
He also urged professionals like doctors and lawyers to join BuCor as he assured them that they will get the rank of captain once they start their employment.
