During my stint as a radio jock in the FM band, I remember playing revival songs by Jojo Mendrez. (baka malakas sya sa playlist master ha!) He had versions of "Tuyo Na’ng Damdamin" by the Apo Hiking Society, "Magkabilang Mundo" by Jireh Lim, and "Sana" by Florante. His rendition of the OPM classic Handog was even awarded the  Revival Song of the Year at the PMPC Star Awards for Music in 2018. (kaya sya na ang Revival King!)

Jojo had to take a break to attend to his businesses and some challenging situations. However, since he loves music, he decided to continue his music career. (laban koya!) He opened the year with the song “Somewhere in My Past” by the late actress Julie Vega (composed by no less than Mon Del Rosario!) According to his management team, it has reached  50 million collective views on social media. (gusto ko ng 50M!)

Last weekend, he launched his first original song, Nandito Lang Ako, composed by Jonathan Manalo, under Star Music PH. (kanino naman nya na-say yang line na yan?!)

“Huli kong sinabi itong mga linya na to sa mga kaibigan ko. Lalo noong panahon ng pandemya, may mga lumapit sakin , humingi ng support. Ang sabi ko sa kanila, nandito lang ako na tutulong na hindi hihingi ng kapalit," Jojo shares. (no mention of a particular name ha!)

The Revival King is currently not spared from intrigues (lakas maka-artista !) He is being romantically linked to actor Mark Herras.  (may pa-flowers pa si Mark sa kanya sa isang presscon!)There was even a “kissing photo” circulating on social media. (fake daw yun! nakakaloka mga ateng!)

“Wala hong ganun. Tingnan nyo, ang nasa isip nyo na yung ganun kasi ayun yung nababasa natin sa social media, napapanood natin. Kaya nandun na yung judgment na talagang meron nangyayari," Jojo says. (walang daw ganun mga mars!)

But it seems he attracts controversies (talk of the town ba ito?!) because netizens assume that his newfound love is Rainier Castillo.  (sino kaya susunod sa mga Starstruck alumni?!) And if during his last mediacon, Mark surprised him, this time it was Rainier’s turn. (no flowers pero may pa-tissue kasi cry me a river si Jojo!)

“Inintroduce sya sakin ni Mark. Tapos si Mark naman yung naging busy. Halimbawa, dapat lalabas kami o may gagawin  sa labas or mag collab kami whatever, lagi syang hindi available. At that time lagi si Rain, si Buboy lagi available. Kaya madalas yung pagkikita namin," Jojo explains. (i-check nyo na availability nyo for sir Jojo!)
