BI hires 30 new officers after 'extensive' training

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has hired 30 new officers who will be deployed to the country’s airports.

The new officers graduated last March 21 after undergoing training for Border Control Officers’ Module (BCOM) I.

“Through rigorous training, they have developed the expertise needed to secure our borders while ensuring efficient service for travelers,” said BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado.

“Their deployment is a testament to our commitment to modernization and excellence,” he said.

The BI’s Learning and Development Section (LDS) said the new officers underwent five weeks of intensive training at the Philippine Immigration Academy training facility in Intramuros, Manila.

“The program covered essential immigration laws, arrival and departure protocols, document examination, and national security enforcement,” it said.

“The class is composed of 16 female and 14 male officers, reflecting an almost equal gender distribution,” it also said.

Viado said "these new officers represent the future of Philippine immigration."
