RS Francisco

I will never forget actor and businessman RS Francisco (wala naman kaming past!) because he was the one who bought a space in the Sto. Domingo Church Columbarium for the cremated remains of our dear friend Direk Francis Pasion nine years ago. RS was one of the actors in Pasion’s ( yan tawag ko sa kanya) last Cinemalaya entry, Bwaya. (na best picture ha!)

I would see RS in some events for the past years (bilang feeling sowsyal ako!) and last weekend, I got an invitation for a media conference for his company Frontrow.

I was just so shocked that when I arrived at the venue, there was a funeral service.  (akala ko kung sino ang nadeds!) Apparently, that was the concept. They provided a traditional Filipino “burol” set up for their product Luxxe White (na inalis na sa market!) to give way for the launching of the new Luxxe White Ultima. (so level up ang branding!)

The whole team was in their drama-acting mode, including RS, who was in tears in his eulogy. (akala mo talaga may nagbabu!)

Rhian Ramos (left) and Michelle Dee

It was my first time attending a media conference with this kind of theme. (afraid!) It got mixed reactions. Most attendees admired the out-of-the-ordinary concept, but some netizens who saw the clips had negative comments. (kaso wala raw basagan ng trip!)

Actress Rhian Ramos and beauty queen Michelle Dee were introduced as its newest endorsers. (with matching Boy Abunda as eulogy host at Ice Seguerra as lamay singer!)

“I told Sam (Versoza), kung ilalaunch natin yan, the campaign must be out of this world.  We can go generic, just like what other companies do. We can do a silhouette then may coming soon, three more days. And then we reveal with a cloth, then charan! We can go as generic as that, but what I like about my partner he gives in to all my whims. In other words, in tagalog, ang kaloka-lokahan ko," RS explains (baliw baliwan school of acting!)

Another special person I will never forget is actress and now Pasig City Councilor candidate Ara Mina. (lalong waley kaming past!) She is one of the celebrities who supported my artwork. (certified FU art collector si ate mo!)

Ara Mina and Sara Discaya

She recently invited showbiz reporters for lunch. ( darling of the press naman sya!) She took the opportunity to introduce Pasig City mayoralty candidate Sara Discaya to us. (pero di pa kami close ha!)

“Para sakin isa siyang kapatid, isa siyang kaibigan, isa siyang kapamilya, isa talaga siyang ate.  Tinatawag ko talaga siyang ate kasi wala akong ate. Ako yung eldest. So ngayon, meron na akong matatawag na ate," Ara says. (pwede mo rin akong ate!)

Ara may be trying her luck in politics, but she will never leave the entertainment industry. She just feels that she has the heart for public service. (at least di lang saging ang may puso!)

“Alam mo yung destiny? Pag destiny mo, walang makakapigil sayo. Ako kasi bawat galaw ko, I ask for a sign and yung sign, si Ate Sara yung dumating, kasi di ako basta basta nagdedesisyon. Alam naman natin sa showbiz industry, magulo na rin. Pero nasanay na tayo. At kahit magulo, at the end of the day, pamilya tayo. So, ganun din sa public service. Iba rin yung sayang naidudulot at nararamdaman mo pag nakakatulong ka," Ara shares. (Ipakilala mo ko dyan kay destiny!)
