Man who killed son-in-law nabbed after 10 years


After a decade in hiding, a man who stabbed to death his son-in-law in Masbate was finally arrested in Taytay, Rizal on Sunday, March 9.

The Eastern Police District (EPD) identified the suspect as “G.L.S.,” 56. He was arrested during a manhunt operation carried out by the EPD's Counterintelligence and Security Section and District Intelligence Division, in coordination with Cataingan Municipal Police Station and Masbate Police Provincial Office.

The operation was conducted based on a warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 49, Cataingan, Masbate, on December 20, 2016.

Based on the report forwarded to the EPD, the crime happened on August 18, 2015. It said that at around 6:30 p.m., the suspect and his daughter’s husband were allegedly drinking together when suddenly a heated argument escalated, leading the suspect to fatally stab the victim.

The suspect is now temporarily detained at Pasig City Police Station.

EPD acting district director Col. Villamor Tuliao said that they will intensify their campaign against criminals to ensure they are held accountable for their crimes, creating a safer and more peaceful community for the people of Eastern Metro Manila.
