There had been an unprecedent proliferation of fake news about pro-administration congressmen these past few weeks, and even House Senior Deputy Majority Leader Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos wasn't spared.
On Monday, March 17, Rep. Marcos called out a certain social media post from Tee Media Corp., which claimed that the 31-year-old congressman was "planning to run as president in the 2028 presidential elections".
"Ingat po tayo sa misinformation campaign in the last few days (Let's beware of the misinformation campaign in the last few days)," the presidential son wrote on his Instagram story wherein he warned his followers about the fake news.

Even basic knowledge of Philippine politics should have given netizens a glaring hint that the post was pure baloney.
This is because by May 2028 or the time of the next presidential race, Rep. Marcos will have only turned 34 years old--six years short of the minimum age requirement of 40 for presidential candidates.
Rep. Marcos--a neophyte solon in the 19th Congress--is the eldest son of incumbent President Marcos.
He is running for reelection in his district in the May 2025 polls.
