Two South Korean fugitives have been arrested in separate operations conducted by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Cebu City and Paranaque City.
Those arrested by the BI's Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) were identified by the bureau as Sim Sooryong, 38, and Kim Kwanghyun, 40.

Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado said the two foreigners will be blacklisted and banned from re-entering the Philippines.
The arrest was done based on the red notices issued by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) on the request of the South Korean government to have the fugitves located and apprehended.
“Investigation revealed that both Koreans are already overstaying. Sim’s last arrival here was on Feb. 3, 2019 while Kim arrived on Jan. 28, 2018,” the BI said.
The two South Koreans are now detained at the BI’s detention facility in Taguig City while awaiting deportation.
The BI said that Sim Sooryong is the “subject of an arrest issued by the Changwon district court on Nov. 26 last year when he was indicted for conspiring with an accomplice in robbing a victim after attacking the latter with axe on the back of the head and other parts of his body.”
“The suspects allegedly threatened and forced their victim to transfer 25 million won into their bank account while the latter was restrained with duct tapes,” it said.
On the other hand, the bureau said Kim Kwanghyun is wanted “for setting up illegal gambling sites in the Internet.”
“A warrant for his arrest was issued on March 18, 2016 by the Gwangju district He court where he was charged for violating Korea’s national sports promotion act,” it said.
“He was accused of operating several online gambling sites since 2015 through which he reportedly amassed over 16 billion won from sports betting tickets sold online,” it added.
