Senator Maria Imelda Josefa “Imee” Romualdez Marcos emphasized the importance of wellness among women when she joined the opening ceremony for the Women’s Month celebration in Antipolo City on Saturday, March 1.
Rizal Governor Nina Ynares and Antipolo City Mayor Casimiro “Junjun” Ynares, III welcomed Sen. Imee at the Ynares Event Center on Saturday morning.
The lady senator, who has been a frequent visitor not only in Antipolo City, but also in other parts of Rizal Province, joined the women’s month kick-off ceremony with her signature ZumBarangay, a Zumba session among the members of the women sector that encourages wellness.

The senator, who is running for re-election in the coming May polls, met with some local government officials during her brief stay at the Rizal Provincial Capitol.
She called for equal wages for workers in the province and in Metro Manila due to the rising of prices of commodities in the province.
During a brief talk with members of the media covering the event, Sen. Marcos said she is pushing for the creation of the so-called “Green Infrastructure” program to solve environmental problems that have been affecting the country, both in the cities and the countryside.
The presidential sister said part of the pro-environment program is the institutionalization of tree planting, particularly on the propagation of mangroves and bamboo trees which are proven effective in addressing flood, soil erosion and other ill effects of global warming.
She is encouraging the public to actively participate in the tree planting activities and other pro-environment projects of the national and local government units in their localities.
She added that the people should emulate Rizal province's Ynares Eco System (YES) to Green Program, commonly referred as the YES Program of the Ynares administration.
