In a press conference on Friday, Feb. 7, the official admitted she hasn’t finalized her plans yet for the period.
“Hindi pa namin napapag-usapan kung ano iyong gagawin ko for the upcoming campaign and election (We haven’t talked yet what I will do for the upcoming campaign and election),” she said.
However, the Vice President shared plans about working with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) instead.
“And isa sa mga trabaho namin ay gusto namin tumulong sa Commission on Elections in voter education, particularly in the --- huwag mo ibenta iyong boto mo, huwag gumamit ng dahas, during campaign and election day. Iyong mga ganoon (One of our plans is we want to help the Commission on Elections in voter education, particularly in the —- don’t sell your votes, don’t get violent, during campaign and election day. Those things),” she shared.
The outcome of the 2025 midterm elections is especially critical for the Vice President as it will change the composition of the Senate, which is expected to convene as an impeachment trial court in June.
Duterte was impeached by the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Feb. 5.
Her family’s allies—Senators Bong Go and Ronald Dela Rosa—are reelectionists and running under the Partido ng Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban) party.
