Acting DCPO chief Police Col. Hansel Marantan said they are offering P100,000 per suspect to anyone who can provide information for the capture of the five remaining suspects involved in the pawnshop robbery.
“Your immediate action can help solve this case and keep Davao City safe. We appreciate your support and vigilance in making our city a safer place for everyone,” Marantan said in a statement.
Police Regional Office-11 chief Police Brig. Gen. Leon Victor Rosete condemned the incident. “Such crimes have no place in the community,” Rosete said.
Rosete vowed to bring all those responsible to justice. “We commend the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) for their swift action, which led to the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of the stolen items amounting to P15,136,490,” he added.
Footage from closed-circuit television cameras showed that three suspects fled towards San Pedro St. onboard a motorcycle. The suspects’ motorcycle allegedly broke down, prompting them to flee by foot.
Pursuing lawmen captured one of the suspects, Jonny, inside a makeshift stall at Bankerohan Market. However, his cohorts were able to escape, police said.
Initial investigation said that three suspects were involved in the robbery. Police later found out that three others also took part in the incident. Recovered from Jonny were a 9mm handgun, an AR-15 assault rifle, bullets, and jewelry from the pawnshop. Jonny is in the custody of the Davao City police.
