Over P121 million worth of "counterfeit" Louis Vuitton products were seized by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) from establishments in Cavite.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Feb. 26, the NBI said the "counterfeit" products were seized by operatives of the NBI Intellectual Property Rights Division (NBI-IPRD) during implementation of search warrants last Feb. 20.
“Search Warrants were served at establishments located in General Trias and Imus, Cavite, resulting in the seizure of a substantial quantity of counterfeit Louis Vuitton products with an estimated value of P121,622,838," it said.
It also said the owners of the raided establishments committed infringement of trademark in violation of Republic Act No. 8293, the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
“The case stemmed from the complaints filed by the representative of Louis Vuitton, Mayank Vaid, against individuals and entities engaged in the unauthorized sale and distribution of counterfeit products bearing the Louis Vuitton trademark,” it added.
NBI Director Jaime B. Santiago reminded the public to refrain from patronizing counterfeit products.
