Police Major Romulo Gepilango, Moises Padilla police chief, questioned the statement of the victim’s uncle who reported the incident as a hit-and-run.
Gepilango said that according to the uncle, an unidentified motorcycle rider struck their parked motorcycle, causing the victim, Deserie Tadena, a third-year student at Central Philippines State University (CPSU)-Moises Padilla Campus, to fall and fatally injure herself on Feb. 19.
He said that a review of a closed-circuit television camera footage did not provide clear evidence to support the uncle’s account due to its poor quality.
Police are awaiting a witness to come forward to clarify the situation. “It’s difficult at this time, because there’s no witness,” Gepilango said.
The victim was fetched by her uncle from school and they stopped on their way to home to relieve himself. The victim was seated on their motorcycle when she was allegedly hit.
Gepilango said that they are also awaiting the victim’s father to get in touch with them for further information. Tadena’s uncle is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
