Person of interest in murder of lady doctor in Naga City nabbed

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – The boyfriend of slain doctor Dr. Rajean Monnette Romualdez – considered a person of interest in her death last Sunday in Naga City in Camarines Sur province – was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation at the port of Matnog in Matnog, Sorsogon province on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 19.

Police Brig. Gen. Andre P. Dizon, Police Regional Office-5 chief, confirmed to the Manila Bulletin that Raymart Martinez, the person of interest in the killing of Romualdez, was arrested by the NBI-Naga in Matnog.

Martinez was taken to Naga City, Dizon said.

Martinez was being hunted by authorities after he was the last person seen with the victim.

Romualdez was found dead with a bullet wound in the head in the  passenger seat of a car parked on Princeton St., Monterey Village, Barangay Concepcion Pequeña, near her apartment and the Bicol Medical Center where she was working.

Naga City Mayor Nelson Legacion offered a P200,000 reward to any person who can provide information leading to the identification, arrest, prosecution, and conviction of her assailant.

Businessman Noel de Luna also offered a P1-million reward for information that would lead to arrest and prosecution of her killer.

Police formed a Special Investigation Task Group to hunt her killer.
