Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy was transported back to the Pasig City Jail Male Dormitory (PCJMD) after being released from confinement in a hospital due to “community-acquired pneumonia,’’ the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) confirmed on Thursday, Feb. 13.

In an interview, BJMP spokesperson Supt. Jayrex Bustinera said Quiboloy arrived at the PCJMD at around 9:50 p.m. on Feb. 12 following weeks of hospitalization.

Initially, Bustinera disclosed that Quiboloy was rushed to the Rizal Medical Center (RMC) at around 5 p.m. of Jan. 18  after complaining of difficulty in breathing.

The physicians at the RMC initially diagnosed Quiboloy with pneumonia prompting his transfer to The Medical City (TMC) for further treatment.

Bustinera recalled that on Jan. 23, the Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 159 ordered Quiboloy’s transfer from TMC to the Pasig City General Hospital, where he was diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia (moderate risk) and hypertension stage 2.

While confined at PCGH, Bustinera noted that the court granted Quiboloy permission on Feb. 7 to record a video for his “senatorial campaign’’ bid.

After receiving medical clearance, Quiboloy was discharged from hospital and transferred back to the Pasig City Jail Male Dormitory.

Earlier, the BJMP “received a court order partially granting Quiboloy’s hospitalization.’’

“PDL (person deprived of liberty) Quiboloy ws also ordered to be transferred to a public hospital perp court order by RTC (Regional Trial Court) 159 Judge dated 23 January 2025.’’ Bustinera said.

With speculations on the possible preferential treatment for high-profile inmates like Quiboloy, Bustinera shrugged this claim off with the assurance that “Mr. Quiboloy will be treated like any other PDL (person deprived of liberty), in accordance with the law and jail regulations.’’

Bustinera pointed out that BJMP chief Director Ruel Rivera issued the strict order that there should be no “VIP (very important person)’’ treatment, stressing that all should be treated like “ordinary PDLs.
