The Philippine Army’s (PA) 4th Infantry Division (4ID) designated its new spokesperson and public affairs chief in a ceremony held over the weekend at Camp Evangelista in Cagayan de Oro City.
Major Joe Patrick A. Martinez and Lieutenant Colonel Jelynne U. Fallar were named as the 4ID’s spokesperson and chief of public affairs office, respectively.
The positions were vacated by Lt. Col. Francisco P. Garello Jr., who was assigned at the Office of the Civil-Military Operations, OG7, at the Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
Martinez and Fallar are mistahs, having been products of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Maragtas” Class of 2007.
Martinez is no longer new to his new role as he also was the 4ID’s spokesperson from 2015 to 2018.
Meanwhile, Fallar is a former executive officer of the Service Support Battalion (SSBn), a unit within the Army which provides essential support services to other units, such as logistics, maintenance, and administrative functions.
During the joint change of command and change of chief of office ceremony last Friday, March 14, Garello was awarded with the Military Merit Medal and Command Plaque for his “invaluable services rendered which greatly contributed to the overall accomplishment of the Command's mission.”
Garello held the dual role of being the 4ID’s spokesperson and chief of public affairs office since June 2021.
Maj. Gen. Michele B. Anayron Jr., commander of 4ID, lauded Garello for his exemplary service and dedication to the 4ID.
He also expressed confidence to the capabilities of Martinez and Fallar to perform their crucial roles of communicating the 4ID’s peace and development programs to foster public awareness, and strengthen media relationships and community engagement.
