A Chinese national who has been charged with violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act was arrested last Tuesday, Feb. 11, while applying for a visa extension at the main offices of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Manila.
The BI identified the arrested foreigner as Lin Guangxiu, 44 years old.
It confirmed that Lin is a subject of a red notice issued by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
“Lin is reportedly wanted for prosecution for violating Section 11, Article II of R.A. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002,” it said.
It also said that in 2019, Lin and an accomplice were found in possession of 138 pieces of tape-sealed transparent packs containing around 270,000 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu.
The BI said that during the visa extension process at the agency’s headquarters in Intramuros, “BI personnel detected irregularities in Lin’s records and reported the case to Tourist Visa Section (TVS) Chief Raymond Remigio, who coordinated with the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) for Lin’s immediate arrest.”
Lin is now detained at the BI's facility in Taguig City.
