Almost 4,000 child pornography sites have been blocked by Globe Telecommunications, Inc. in 2024.
During a press conference at the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Tuesday, Feb. 11, on the occasion of "Safer Internet Day," Globe Senior Director Carlo Bernardo S. Santos assured that Globe Telecom will “continue to do blocking of websites and domains” that provide child pornography.
Santos said the websites and domains that were blocked included those that provide images generated by artificial intelligence (AI).
"We are now seeing the influx of images generated by AI which is quite alarming from our perspective,” he said.
DOJ Undersecretary Nicholas Felix L. Ty said that Republic Act (RA) No. 11390, the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) Act, also covers artificially-generated images.”
“So lahat ng image na ‘yan kahit na AI o kahit na totoong tao o kahit na composite na totoong tao na dinaan sa digital technology upang magbago sakop ‘yan ng CSAEM (So all images, even if it is created by AI or a real image or a composite of real image that underwent digital technology, are covered by the CSAEM law),” Ty said.
Ty stressed that the government continues to join forces with various groups in the fight against OSAEC and CSAEM.
“Maganda ang ating sistema (We have a good system),” he pointed out.
“Prayoridad ng ating Pangulo ang problema na ‘to at maganda ang ating sagot (This has been the priority of the President and we have a good answer),” he added.
