Ex-NPA medic, vice commander surrender in Agusan del Norte
BUTUAN CITY – Three New People’s Army rebels surrendered to the 23rd Infantry Battalion (IB) in Buenavista town, Agusan del Norte province on Christmas Eve.
The surrenderers were identified as former medic Liza, former vice commander Dagsa, and member Longlong from different NPA platoons and committees, the battalion reported Thursday.
“The surrender was in line with the Philippine Army’s continuing efforts to promote peace, security, and inclusive development,” said Lt. Col. Glennford Libre, 23rd IB commander.
They handed over an M16A1 rifle with ammunition.
Libre attributed their surrender to sustained intelligence operations and focused engagement.
The 23rd IB assured that they would be treated according to the law and enrolled in government reintegration programs.
