NBI warns public vs online scams

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) warned the public against online scams during this Christmas season.
“Fraudsters are taking advantage of the season through fake online stores, phishing messages, and fraudulent payment links,” said the NBI in its latest social media post.
It advised that “to verify sellers, avoid suspicious links, and never share personal, banking, or one-time password details.”
“If an offer seems too good to be true, it probably is,” it pointed out.
The NBI then asked anyone who became a victim or came across such scams “to report the incident immediately to the NBI and keep screenshots, messages, receipts, and transaction records as evidence.”
