BUTUAN CITY – A former supply officer for a dismantled New People's Army (NPA) guerrilla front surrendered to police on Monday afternoon following negotiations.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Butuan City police identified the surrenderer as Dabong, a resident of Barangay Durian, Las Nieves town, Agusan del Norte province.
Operatives of the City Intelligence Unit and Butuan Police Station 5 intelligence section conducted the negotiations, part of the office's continuing anti-insurgency campaign, police said.
Dabong is now under custodial debriefing and being processed for enrollment in the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program.
The Butuan police urged remaining NPA rebels to abandon the movement and avail themselves of government reintegration programs. (PNA)
