A fugitive Chinese national, who is wanted in his country for kidnapping, was deported last Monday, Dec. 22, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said.
BI Deputy Spokesperson Malvin Mabulac during an interview on PTV’s Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon identified the deportee as Shi Chunfang who was arrested last Dec. 14 in Taytay, Rizal.
Prior to the deportation of Shi, Mabulac said the BI coordinated with the Philippine National Police (PNP) to determine if the Chinese national is facing charges in the Philippines that would prevent his departure.
He said the PNP has issued a clearance which showed that Shi has no charges in the Philippines but has been a fugitive in China where he is wanted for kidnapping charges.
The BI said that “Shi is wanted by the Chinese police for kidnapping, and has a standing warrant issued by the Public Security Bureau of Jinjiang City in 2024.”
It also said that “Shi’s passport has already been cancelled, making him an undocumented alien.”
“Shi is likewise the subject of a blacklist order issued in January, and a Watchlist order in July, for being an undesirable alien,” it added.
