Nartatez awards cops wounded in encounter

CANDELARIA, Quezon – Philippine National Police chief Police Lt. Gen. Jose Nartatez Jr. on Sunday visited police personnel wounded in a recent encounter with communist rebels in this town.
Nartatez awarded the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting and Medalya ng Kadakilaan for the bravery and sacrifice in the line of duty of Police Master Sgt. Sonnie C. Caringal and Police Patrolman Kim Kenneth S. Averia.
Assisted by Police Brig. Gen Paul Kenneth Lucas, PRO 4-A chief, Nartatez extended cash assistance to the wounded personnel as a gesture of support and concern.
Nartatez also visited the remains of Police Patrolman Ron Jay Chavez who was killed in the encounter.
Chavez’s family was extended financial assistance and assured of the PNP’s continued support and care.
