Cebu City cops inspect firecracker vendors

CEBU CITY – With Christmas Day just around the corner, authorities here are making sure that regulations on the selling of firecrackers are being observed.
Officials from the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), Regional Civil Security Unit, and Bureau of Fire Protection on Friday, Dec. 19, conducted a surprise inspection at the designated area for selling of firecrackers at the South Road Properties (SRP).
Police Col. George Ylanan, chief of CCPO, said the purpose of the inspection was to ensure that vendors are equipped with permits and regulations are met.
Ylana said no violations were discovered during the inspection.
“All requirements were complied,” Ylanan said.
Vendors were reminded that selling of imported firecrackers is prohibited.
Ylanan said that all firecrackers sold in the area are locally made.
He warned that prohibited firecrackers and pyrotechnics will be confiscated.
Prohibited firecrackers and pyrotechnics devices include Watusi, Poppop, Plapla, Piccolo, Five Star, Giant Bawang, Giant Whistle Bomb, Atomic Bomb, Large Size Judas Belt, Super Lolo, Goodbye Bading, Lolo Thunder, Bin Laden, Boga, Kwiton, Pillbox, Kabase, Super Yolanda, Hello Colombia, Tuna, GPH Nuclear, Special Goodbye Chismosa, Kingkong, Dark Brown, Atomic Triangle, Goodbye De Lima, Mother Rocket, Goodbye Napoles, Goodbye Philippines, and Coke in Can.
“As we can see, all firecrackers that are on display are Philippine-made. If there are imported firecrackers, we will confiscate them,” said Ylanan.
All items sold outside the designated area will be seized, Ylanan added.
