Contractor Cezarah “Sarah” Discaya has been charged with theft and graft before the Malabon City Prosecutor’s Office, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
“May pending case po s’ya sa Malabon filed by the city government of Malabon itself (Discaya has a pending case that was filed by the Malabon City government),” DOJ Spokesperson Raphael Niccolo L. Martinez told journalists.
Martinez, however, did not disclose the details of the charges filed against Discaya.
He said the city prosecutor’s office started on Dec. 16 the preliminary investigation of the charges.
During the preliminary investigation, Martinez said that Dicaya, accompanied by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), appeared before the prosecutor handling the case.
Last Dec. 9 Discaya surrendered to the NBI in anticipation of an arrest warrant that may be issued by the court against her.
She and several other DPWH officials and private individuals were charged before the regional trial court (RTC) in the “ghost” infrastructure project worth P96.5 million in Davao Occidental in 2022.
