BuCor welcomes P20,000 Service Recognition Incentive for gov't personnel
The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Sunday, Dec. 14, welcomed the decision of President Marcos to provide this month up to P20,000 Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) not only for the bureau’s personnel but also for all government employees in the Executive branch.
In a statement, BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. said “this recognition would significantly impact the agency's personnel, especially as the festive Christmas season approaches.”
Catapang also said: “This incentive not only serves as a much-appreciated financial boost but also reinforces the value of dedication and hard work among government employees, enhancing their spirits during a time of celebration and gratitude.”
Last Dec. 11, President Marcos issued Administrative Order No. 40 that granted a one-time SRI of up to P20,000 to personnel in the Executive branch, including civilian employees of national government agencies, state universities and colleges (SUCs), and government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs) whether holding regular, contractual, or casual positions.
Also included are military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines under the Department of National Defense, and uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police, Philippine Public Safety College, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology under the Department of the Interior and Local Government, personnel of the Bureau of Corrections under the Department of Justice, the Philippine Coast Guard under the Department of Transportation, and the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources were also included.
The Administrative Order stated that the payment of the SRI to all qualified government employees should be made not earlier than Dec. 15.
On top of the P20,000 SRI, Catapang also thanked the President for the Executive Order that raised the base pay for military and uniformed personnel (MUP) including those from the BuCor.
He noted that the updated base pay schedule for the MUP will be implemented in three tranches with the first tranche beginning on Jan. 1, 2026, the next on Jan. 1, 2027, and the third on Jan. 1, 2028.
At the same time, he said all personnel will also enjoy an increase in subsistence allowance of P350 per day starting on Jan. 1, 2026 from the current P150.
